The sky is falling...

We live in this...uh..."interesting" old house. It is in a nice area and we love our ward, but the poor house is falling down. We very seriously considered moving a few months ago, but when Joe and I prayed about it, we felt very strongly that we were supposed to stay. So we've stayed. Unfortunately, we have not been as cheerful about staying as we should be. Our wise friend Rachel counselled us that if the Lord wants us to stay here we should probably stop murmuring about it, heehee. So, we have made a better effort (still not that great) to not complain so much about the place. Recently Joe went downstairs to move a batch of laundry (I know, I know...I've got the best husband) and noticed that it was raining in the laundry room. Sigh. Hannah was taking a bath and it was leaking. That is the latest in our house problems. I wanted to document the issues our house has so that when our kids are grown and say, "Remember that great old house we used to live in" that I can show them the TRUTH.

Last fall, our air conditioning stopped working
Unfortunately, half of our windows have no screens, the other 1/4 don't fit properly and let all kinds of bugs in, and the last 1/4 have major holes in them. Joe patched this one up with some duct tape
This is the gross hole in our laundry room that our waste comes out of when it backs up...like it did a few Sundays ago. We can no longer put any food into the sink because the kitchen pipes are not flowing well

Water leaking fromthe ceiling in our laundry room
The bucket we placed under the leak
Both of the pipes that go to the sinks in our master bathroom are cracked and broken. On one, we have to leave a trickle of water running at all times in order to avoid a major flood...I guess we're not really doing our part for the environment
Due to all the pipe issues we've had, last fall we were changed from a septic tank to the city sewer (that was after a whole OTHER set of problems that we don't even want to get into). Unfortunately, half of the front yard was ripped up and our sprinkler system was ruined
But guess what? We DO have lots of beautiful flowers!

The good news? We don't own this house!!! We are just renting it. Our landlord is desperate to get us to buy it from him, but I think we'll pass. It's a great area and all, but $400,000? I don't think so...
