Part One...Caleb David Boyer

I have decided to do a series on everyone in my family. I am going to include old pictures of them and any particular memories I may have. I am not doing them in any certain order and whenever I have time...they may not come right after each other... :)

Caleb is our fifth child, and second son. He was named after the Biblical Caleb and his paternal grandfather, David Boyer. He was 8 pounds and 11 ounces at birth and now weighs a hefty 35 pounds at 27 months of age. I was very sick with Caleb when pregnant and had a quick and yucky delivery through induction one week past his due date. There had been concern prior to his birth that he may have a cleft lip, but he was born just fine. :) We were very happy to have another boy in our family!

Meeting mom for the first time...notice my washcloth...it really wasn't the best delivery!
Meeting Hannah (6) and Lizzie (4)
Emma (2) wasn't sure that she wanted a new sibling for a long, long time

When Caleb was born, Joe was only attending school and not working. It was nice having him more available for me, especially since Caleb was a rotten sleeper. He was a good tempered baby, though, and very happy. He smiled quite early, around three weeks. I believe he was our earliest smiler. He loved to smile and "talk" to the little ducky mobile that hung above his swing. He was very adored by his siblings, especially his big brother Ammon.

5 weeks old and already a cool guy!
Looking handsome for church at 8 weeks
Is that not the cutest little guy?? Caleb (2.5 months)

Joe insisted on attending Caleb's circumcision. This would have been fine except for Joe's problem with blood and needles. Being the outstanding father that he is, however, he didn't want to leave Caleb alone during this trial of his little manhood. Being the less-than-outstanding mother that I am (and not wanting to see my baby cry), I waited in the waiting room. The nurse came out and said, "We're done. He had a pretty rough time, but he is now doing much better...and Caleb is good as well. " :) Yes, Joe had nearly passed out and became quite a concern to our awesome doctor and nurse. They took care of him with ice and cold compresses, and he put his head between his knees. He made it. What a guy! :)

Due to sickness and stuff, Caleb wasn't blessed until he was 3 months old. Here he is with his Uncle Danny (Joe's brother). He looked so handsome in his little blessing suit and his haircut kind of matches Dan's.

Caleb (8 months) at Halloween...he had no costume, just his good looks

We went to live in Virginia when Caleb was about six months old. One day, Joe got up and bustled the girls into the car to drive them to the bus stop. Since he is so great, he took Caleb and Emma with him so that I could sleep in a bit. Unfortunately, that is a lot of kids to haul and as they backed up, Lizzie freaked out because Joe had left Caleb in his carseat sitting on the ground by the car! He was in the grass, where Joe wouldn't have driven on him, thank goodness! He quickly grabbed him and put him in the car and the girls will NEVER let him forget about the "time he almost forgot Caleb!"

Caleb checks out his first snow (Joe kind of looks like a mountain man, doesn't he?)

Caleb (10 months) is a happy guy

Caleb (10 months) gets into trouble with his sisters

Caleb (11 months) loves eating...if you look carefully you can see a bruise on his forehead from when Joe and I beat him :)

Caleb started crawling around 9 months and was walking just after a year. He cried when we took him to nursery at church for about four or five months and has been fine since then. He is mega into balls, cars, playing outside, and electronics of every type. His current favorite on the computer is the "Learn to Read" site at http://www.starfall.com/. Kind of a weird site for a two year old to obsess over, but, hey, I figure if he wants to study his letters and letter sounds at least I don't have to feel so guilty for letting him use the computer so much. :)

Oh! How I love this boy!

He is a cute little guy and really has his older brothers and sisters wrapped around his finger. They will do whatever he wants them to do. We love him in this family!
