Anyway, I have had exactly ZERO time this past week. Life was simply too busy. I had a couple of huge assignments due for school and two big exams and I had parent teacher conferences for the kids and we had to sign the papers for the house and birthdays for two kids, and a huge project I have been working on for the Relief Society that needed to be finished and the Primary program (practice and the real deal...I am the pianist) and the Relief Society Broadcast and so on. Anyway, the realtor called on Friday evening and said that he was going to come check out this house on Monday morning to see how much money he could sell it for. Blah! The house wasn't at it's cleanest and the toy room especially was a disaster.
I didn't have any time to do the cleaning except for Saturday morning. The kids and Joe and I got up early and started working around 8am, but we weren't done by 10 when conference started, so we turned it on and "listened" while we finished cleaning. Well, you can imagine how well I listened while directing my children to clean. Not a pretty sight.
After the session ended, the cleaning was done! Hooray. The house was very clean and nice, which was a good thing because my parents were on their way to stay the night. They arrived just before the afternoon session. Anyway, for the remaining three sessions, I was just too tired to be the good mommy and help my kids with conference. I sent them with their packets/bingo/coloring things to the basement to watch it down there. Sigh. I knew they would probably get more out of it if they were up with us, but I just wanted to listen. They did stay there for all of the sessions and listen a little bit at least. Ammon came upstairs once to tell me how touched he was by the story of the little boy who crossed the river and his dad came to save him (Sat. afternoon, I think). At dinner, Hannah and Lizzie could each tell a story or something they had heard, so I guess they were sort of paying attention.
I made pumpkin pie as part of a tradition for fall conference and as I was taking it out of the oven, I dropped it! I have been making pies for YEARS and I have never dropped one back into the oven. Oh, well. The kids still ate it. :)
It was fun to see my parents and I think Joe enjoyed going to priesthood meeting with my dad. I guess every conference can't be perfect. After all, there must be opposition in all things. The good news is, my mom convinced me to drop one of my classes (well, she actually counseled me to drop two of my four courses since they alone are taking 3-4 hours daily and then just go part time from now on, but I decided to just drop one...sorry Mom!). With so much going on in my life these days, and now with moving on top of that...well, let's just say that everyone in my family wants me to keep my sanity. :)
I hope your conference was much better!

Wow!!! Congrats on planning a move, and good luck with it! :-)
And YES - that arrangement of "Do What is Right" is the first time I've ever thought the song was beautiful - powerful, true, all before, but that was the prettiest arrangement of a rather musically ho-hum hymn EVAH. :-) I'm still raving about it! (as you can see!)(read)(whatever)
Oh man. I'm sorry to say, but those are some pretty sad looking pies. :( But I'm sure they were still tasty. . .with enough Cool Whip. Okay, okay. That was mean. So, you can tease me about this horrid cooking story. Derek once told me he liked noodles with parmesan cheese on them. (We were just barely married at the time.) I thought he meant Ramen noodles without the spices. So I cooked them, added the cheese and thought Derek would be excited for dinner. NOPE! It was soooo gross! Completely inedible! Another time I spent a long time cooking these two pies for a family dinner. One was apple I think and the other cherry. Well, on my way out the door I was carrying both pies (stupid, I know) and somehow lost my balance or something and was able to catch the apple pie, but the cherry landed upside down on the living room floor and just went everywhere. I was just so frustrated and sad. I just sat down and cried. Derek came in and took care of everything. Cleaned up the whole mess and even shampooed the carpet. And he did all that for me, even though I made him the "Nasty Noodle" dinner which we still comment on and say "Well, at least tonights dinner isn't as bad as that Ramen noodle paremesan disaster."
