"I always have a happy feeling when I go to church" Hmmmm. Whomever wrote this song did not see our day today! We had regional conference. Sounds inspirational, right? Wrong. Strike one: One meeting mostly directed towards adults lasting for over two hours with six wiggly children. Strike two: We were late and had to sit on folding chairs in the gym where the kids were not contained (or comfortable). Strike three: The lights were off for the video feed making it hard for the kids to see to color or anything else "less" noisy.
Anyway, needless to say, it was a looooooong two hours. The "under five" crowd was particularly restless. Ammon, Hannah, and Lizzie did pretty well, but the littler ones were a disaster.
After the closing prayer, the sister on the aisle across from us came to me and said, "You made it!" LOL. I am just disappointed that I wasn't able to hear the wonderful speakers as well as I would have liked (President Uctdorf, President Packer, Sister Dibb, and so on).
I was taking a picture of Bekah in her cute new Sunday dress when all the kids decided they wanted their pictures taken. Here they are, ready for a wonderful day at church!

So beautiful little Bekah! :-) And I'm so glad it wasn't just our family struggling through a conference today... we had Stake Conference, and while we got there on time, Kiddo has been suffering with allergies and hit his being-good-limit like, halfway through, and it was all rapidly downhill from there... I ran out of places to take him, so I ended up just taking him home! Great job persevering with all of your kiddos!!! :-)
Lori,
This is why, next Sunday when we have Stake Conference, Randon and I won't be taking any non-Baptized children with us! We've always lucked out and had two sessions, so Randon and I split up and don't take the kids.
I feel perfectly justified in doing this because: 1. As you say, the meeting is not for children 2. We are not partaking of the Sacrament 3. The possibility of Randon and I gaining spiritual strength from the meeting is more important than teaching a 2-year old to sit still during a two hour meeting.
Anyway, I liked the anecdote about the sister saying "You made it". I hope I can always be empathetic to people who are struggling.
You are lucky, Em. That's nice to have two sessions. What do you tell your other kids about church that day? Does Addie feel mad that she has to go when no one else does?
I thought that sister was great too. It helps to know that we have understanding people sitting by us during long meetings. :) I am like you and will always try to be empathetic towards families with young children!
Yes, that sounds like us during our Stake Conference a couple weeks ago. Lovely, isn't it. Nice that Emily has two sessions. At least all your kids look darling! :)
