We had a great FHE on Monday night with the Richards. To help the kids focus on the pioneers, and to help them understand some of our ancestors and where we come from, we found different stories from our ancestors for each of the kids to share. These ranged from true Mormon pioneers to the kids own great-grandparents. It was really neat and I think the kids gained a better appreciation for their (very) extended family. Afterward, we went to visit the temple, the reason that we can be together with all those great people forever and ever.Kids are always a little tricky to handle at the temple. The open grounds are such a temptation to run and play, but as parents, we really want to help them remember to be reverent. The day after the temple, I happened upon this quote from President Monson that I love! Em...I especially love how President Monson describes seeing the children...not super reverent, but laughing and with energy. Perhaps there is hope for our kids yet. :)
The effort to have children become better acquainted with the temple often involved a visit to the temple grounds. The laughter of small children, the joy of unfettered youth, and the exuberance of energy displayed by them gladdened the heart of this observer. As a little one reached out and up to touch the temple, I could almost see the Master welcoming the little children to His side and could almost hear His comforting words: “Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.”
Each of the kids wanted me to take a picture of them touching the temple. I didn't get Joshy or Ella, but the rest of the kids are so sweet. :)

The kids were all impressed that Ammon has been IN the temple already! I think it made them more excited for when they turn 12 and can do baptisms as well. :)
