Go For Launch!

Summer vacation has begun! Last week, the kids and I met together to discuss our summer activities. Our plan is to swim once per week and go on a field trip once per week. In addition, we'll try to do fun things on the weekends with Papa. :) We had a big meeting where the kids voted on which activities we were going to do. I let them pick seven free activities and four that cost money. I created long lists of each type of activities and then each child (and mom!) picked their favorites. We ended up with a very fun list.

Our first activity was to Clark Planetarium in SLC. It was FREE! Huzzah. It was actually very fun as well. Hannah had earned the right to invite a friend along, so I had seven kids for the day instead of just six. Haley was very well behaved, however, so it was easy as pie. The kids were great and it was the perfect way to kick off the summer.

Hannah was so happy that her BFFT, Haley, came with us

I think those space suits would be pretty uncomfortable

Emmers checks out the cosmos

Bekah tries out the telescope, but ends up with the wrong end, haha

Lizzie discovers her weight on Mercury...only 18 pounds! I think I've gotta move there. :)

Ammon's favorite part was this gigantic Rube Goldberg device. It was two stories high and ran all across the ceiling.

The kids loved watching the pendulum move according to the rotation of the earth

Ammon and Lizzie make electricity

My kids take over the moon! We came, we saw, we conquered. :)

Bekah actually really loves to put on her "froggy." I think she knows it means we're going somewhere fun. The kids took turns keeping track of her. So much easier than using a stroller!

The kids had fun "feeding" the black hole

Cabers does some funky dance on Mars :)

What is it with the boys dancing on Mars?

We had a great time learning about our planet and the milky way...and Mom loved that it was all free
