We have been getting bunches of snow over the past 24 hours (and it continues). The roads have been very slick and travel has been quite dangerous. This morning, as I was returning home from driving the kids to school and Joe to work, I noticed a car that had slid off the road. There is a rather large ravine that lies between the kid's school and our home. If the roads are terrible, I drive around it (the LONG way) but I had made it down it on the way there okay and decided I'd try it on the way back as well. As I approached the point of no return, I saw the car. It was about five yards ahead of me down the hill and sticking halfway on the road and halfway into a snowbank.
I quickly stopped the car (phew...it stopped, hehe) at the precipice of the hill. I wasn't sure what to do. Cars were still coming up the other side and I couldn't get around the stuck car. It is an extremely slick spot and I hated sitting there, but I couldn't turn around or go down the hill. Finally, a big truck coming up the other side stopped next to the stuck vehicle. He backed up and left his truck halfway up a huge hill, in the snow, to help the car. As I inched by, in his lane, I noticed that the woman in the stuck car was crying. I felt so badly for her. As I glaced over at the man coming to help...guess who it was? Thurl Bailey! Yep, the former Jazz playing Mormon guy. :) We had heard that he lived in our area, and, in fact, is in our stake. I guess he really is a nice guy...even in real life. :)
