(Name the song, heehee)

Twin Falls, Idaho is getting a temple and the open house for visiting the temple happened to be during our visit. I had some great visions of the wonderful experience it would be for the kids to have the opportunity to go INSIDE a temple for the very first time. We had a great plan...on our way to Boise, we got a hotel near Twin stayed our first night there. My parents also got a hotel room and drove up to meet us.
Our tickets for the temple were scheduled for the next day. We did the usual hotel stuff...swimming, going out to eat (did you know that at Shari's kids eat FREE every night to celebrate 50 years or something?!?), and so on. Saturday didn't start out great. The kids really wanted to swim again, but the adults weren't in the mood. We had a bunch of arguing about it before we left for the temple.
My dreams of some great, special experience were pretty much that...a dream. Sigh. Oh, well. Emma was sick (bad omens of things to come on this trip), Caleb was cranky and tired, and the older kids were disgruntled that they were not going to swim. It was a good thing my parents were there, because Emma, Bekah, and Caleb pretty much had to be carried the whole way. The temple was beautiful, but I don't think the kids really appreciated it. I suppose that is what happens when you try to "plan" a spiritual experience. C'est la vive!
Nana and the kids wait to go inside
No pictures were allowed inside, of course, so I convinced the kids to take a couple afterwards. It was a disaster. You may have to click on these pictures to properly look at their expressions, but the kids were NOT happy. Ammon and Hannah almost got into a fist fight right there at the temple!
Break it up, break it up
We removed Ammon from the picture in an attempt to get one with no fighting (of course, Hannah Bay is sort of crying). We sent Hannah to drive the rest of the way to Boise with Nana and Grandpa and we had peace in the car

Oh dear! I don't know whether to feel pity or to laugh! It's both sad and funny. Ironic funny. And it could have been such a great moment for them too. :( Ah well. What can you do? Good pictures though. You really caught the moment. Now they'll never live it down. :)
