All this year, Hannah Bay has been participating in ballroom dance at her school. Truthfully, she has mostly hated it. She doesn't have any experience with dance, and it doesn't come super naturally to her. After losing a couple of competitions, she decided she wanted to quit. Every day after school, she would beg me to let her drop out. We had lots of conversations about sticking to something when you sign up and so on. Finally, seeing how much she disliked it, Joe and I agreed to let her drop out...as long as SHE was the one to discuss it with the coach. After fretting and worrying, she talked to him and he told her that he really wanted her to stay until the end of the year show (they had about a month left). She agreed.
Last week, we all breathed a big sigh of relief. She was finished! I attended her final concerts and took these pictures. After the concert was over, she ran up to me and exclaimed, "I want to do ballroom again next year! Can I sign up?" Chagrined, I asked her what in the world she was talking about. All we had heard for months was how much she hated it. Unabashed, she said, "It's the crowds, Mom! I just can't give up all that cheering."
This was her favorite outfit of the evening
