Deep Pondering

Family scripture study is an ever evolving activity at the Boyer household. We have tried pretty much everything, although the main staple in our house has been reading the "Book of Mormon Stories" put out by the church. After the listening to Elder Bednar's talk at the last General Conference, Joe felt as if we should switch to reading the actual Book of Mormon. It is always such a tricky balance...figuring out scripture study with young children. I agreed with him and we have been doing it ever since. It has been amazing! The older kids ask really thoughtful questions, and I feel as if their gospel knowledge has been increasing every day. What surprised me the most, though, is that the younger kids love it as well! Even Bekah insists on having her own Book of Mormon. She and Caleb sit so quietly and wait for their turn to "read."

In addition to our main family scripture study, I began incorporating "Scripture Power" for the younger three each school day after lunch. We pick a picture from the Gospel Art Kit and I tell the story and we act it out. It has been so great! The younger kids seem to FINALLY be learning the scripture stories...and they love it! When we were reading the Book of Mormon Stories, even though they are geared to young kids, our little ones never seemed to be listening (instead we were wrestling with them most of the time, haha). They are doing much better now. I am so grateful for a husband who listens to promptings from the Holy Spirit.

Anyway, the other night Cabers fell asleep as we were reading the scriptures. I thought he was so cute that I just had to take a picture. Of course, then I ended up with pics of the whole darn family. :)

A very common sight at our place...Joe and Hannah discussing some point of gospel doctrine during scripture time. Both of these two are such talkers! Like father, like daughter, I suppose. :)

Lizzie rocks the scriptures :)

Emma and Bekah eat, drink, and be merry

Is this guy not the sweetest thing in the world? He is getting so grown up and handsome.

And finally...our sweet, sleeping Cabers

That is so sweet!!! And what a wonderful experience with inspiration and revelation! :) Nephi loves to listen to us read the scriptures to him, too; and as much as he loves his Scripture Stories books and DVDs, maybe we should make *actual* scripture reading more of a priority with him, too. Very cool... thank you so much for sharing!!! :)
