Girl's Day!

For Lizzie's birthday, we had a grand plan to take the family to the circus! We have never been before (in fact, I don't think I'VE ever been!). After pricing it out, though, we realized that it would cost nearly THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS to take the whole fam. So....well....that idea went out the window. Instead Lizzie invited Hannah, Emma, and I out on a "girl's day" to celebrate!

We started our day at Build A Bear Workshop. The girls each made a special bear to take with them on our day! We then went out to lunch at the Golden Corral. They loved being able to pick whatever they wanted. When Emma was told that she could have as much cantaloupe as she desired I thought she would burst with joy! LOL... I did restrict them to only two trips to the dessert bar. Still a mother at the core, even on girl's day. :)

After lunch, it was time for ear piercing!!!! Our family rule has been (for ages) that when a girl turns eight, she can choose to have her ears pierced. Hannah (and her total fear of all things needle related) has never been able to work up enough courage to do it. She REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wanted to, but she was simply terrified. When Lizzie said that she wanted to do it on our girl's day, Hannah decided that she was ready as well. Hmmmm...for those of you who have read the posts about Hannah during shots, I'm sure you can imagine how well it went.

Lizzie went first. She was a little nervous, but did well. While Lizzie was picking out her earrings, Hannah was starting to hyperventilate. She was laying on the floor of the store, completely pale, crying that she was going to throw up. I finally convinced her to go out of the store (it was super hot in there for some reason and I think that made it even worse) and lay on a mall bench just outside. I told her that she absolutely did NOT have to do this (I can't even tell you how many times I told her this), that she could do it when she was older, or even when she was an adult. She just really, really, really wanted to do it! She was so torn. After Lizzie had hers done, Hannah decided that she just could not stand not having hers done as well.

We went back in to the store where I started to panic that perhaps Hannah was going to pass out. She looked so sick. She got up on the chair and the ladies (they were going to do it at the same time) started to clean her ears. This brought the hysteria to a whole new level and Hannah freaked out. She started politely telling the women off, lol. Okay not really. But it was funny. She kept saying, "STOP IT, Ma'am! Wait a minute, MA'AM! No! Ma'am! I am not ready!" She was kind of being rude to the lady, but she kept calling her ma'am, lol.

She was freaking out and there were other people who were waiting so I made her get down. I tried to convince her that she wasn't ready and that we should just forget the whole thing, but she just could NOT let the idea of having pierced ears go! After walking around for a few minutes, she got up and tried one more time. They were fast and although she screamed a little bit, she did it! She looked like she was feeling a little woozy, so I picked her right up (like a baby) and took her outside for some fresh air, lol. I was so worried we were going to have her pass out right then and there, but she was okay. I was so proud of her for overcoming her fears. :) Great job, Hannah!

After the ear piercing, we went and got our nails done! The girls loved it and it was a nice way to relax after all that drama. :)

The day begins!

Happy girls :)

The new friends went out to lunch with us. Here is Hannah with her baby

Lunch! Yum

...while outside the shop, Hannah is not feeling well.

Lizzie does it! Way to go Lizzie :)

Hannah decides that she really IS going to do it
I did not take a picture while they were doing it (I was hugging her), but here she is when she was done

After a few minutes, she was fine. Here are the two girls...so grown up!

I have never had my nails done in my whole life. I took the girls to a place and it was super cheap to get their nails painted! Only five dollars (and they did cute flowers and sparkly stuff). What a fun thing to do for cheap!

I let the girls pick all their own colors with no guidance from me. We ended up with green, blue, and orange, lol. Definitely not colors I would have picked, but they loved them.

The birthday girl gets all done up :)

We had a wonderful day! I am so grateful to have such amazing girls to play with. It will be even better when someday Bekars is able to come too. Thank you for inviting us, Lizzie, and happy, happy birthday! :)

This now gives Joe, Ammon, and Kaleb an excuse to have "boys" day. Go out and see some professional wrestling, do some bungee-jumping, and eat burgers and in-and-out.

Five dollars for manicures! I never knew! Sarah and I will have to get some of those done!
