Movie Day!

Before each summer, I sit the kids down and we have a big meeting to discuss the plans for the summer. This year, we are going to the Oregon coast for the family vacation, and otherwise we are pretty free. We agreed to do three things per week with the kids. A trip to the library, swimming, and a "field trip." Prior to the meeting, I made up some options for the kids to vote on for the field trips. One was the list of free ones and the other was those that cost money. The kids had to pick five free trips and three that cost money. One of the free ones that was voted in was "Movie day!" We borrowed the three original Star Wars movies from the library. We then bought all sorts of reserves for the day--candy, popcorn, soda and pizza! We set up a huge fort in the family room and all just plopped down for the day. The kids had never seen the original Star Wars shows, so it was really fun. It was such a great day! I can't imagine the last time I spent laying around watching movies for an entire day. :)
