Science fun

We had a fun activity last week. We went to visit our small-town, local museum. It had a big rock section, a dinosaur section, a pioneer section, and a Native American section. The kids enjoyed it and I enjoyed only driving five minutes to get there. :)

When we first got there, we tried to go in the wrong door. It was locked and all the kids were groaning. Fortunately, we found that around the building was the REAL entrance. Phew...

I can't imagine my kids living in a tepee, lol. Way too wimpy

All the kids kept wanting to show me things at the same time. It was a little tricky. In this shot, Caleb was very excited to point out the froggy in the bird's beak.

Bekah checks out the fluorite, hehe

They had a section of rocks where you had to pick out the man-made one. This was the one the kids chose, but they were wrong! I have no idea what rock it is, but the kids thought it was pretty cool.

Bekah was freed from her "prison" for short bursts. This was one of them.

The kids were like "We've GOTTA take Grandpa here!" because of all the cool rocks

They had animal furs with the faces and feet still on them. Yuck!

They had period hats to try on...look at Caleb's wig!! LOL

Our city's original jail was actually located in this building and still around (I guess it was a historical piece in and of itself!). The kids were too nervous to get into a cell so I went first. In the cell next to us, they had a stuffed dummy and he freaked the kids out. :)

Um...it may seem like a fun idea to have a large, loud native drum for kids to beat on, but it actuality it was kind of a pain, lol. The kids were sooooo noisy! I think all the neighbors could hear them!

At the end, they let the kids each pick a cool rock to take home with them! How fun! They loved it. :) Ammon, of course, had the HARDEST time picking which one to take. He loves rocks, just like his grandpa!

Here they are showing off their rocks! What a fun day. :)
