Lizzie has had a fever and been vomiting for the last few days
We had a TERRIBLE 4th of July last year (let's just say it involved a bad pregnancy, bed rest, Joe working, no fireworks, and lots of crying) and I had promised the kids we would do something fun this year. After Lizzie got sick, we ended up running out to the store and buying some last minute fireworks with the Nortons and did our own little show.
Rachel, Derek, and Joe help the kids with Pop-its
The kids loved the pop-its. Due to the fact that I bought fireworks at the 11th hour, they were all out of sparklers, much to the kids dismay.
The show begins!
Caleb (2) wanted to be like Mommy and took lots of "pictures" on his camera. Please don't think badly of me that my child was naked! :)
Can you guess what Emma (4) thought about it all?
We bought one big "finale" firework. It didn't go over too well. I called it the "FEARnale" due to all the crying it caused. Caleb (2) and Teancum (2) decided they wanted to go back inside! :)
After the fireworks show, the kids went inside and watched a movie. They all crashed in the basement and were so darn cute! Look at these sweet pictures of them sleeping.Hannah (8), Sarah (5), and Emma (4)
Ever since we played RockBand at Heidi and Ivun's house, Joe has been dropping not-so-subtle hints that he would like us to buy it as well (thanks a lot Sorensens!). Okay, I'm not sure that a day has gone by that he hasn't mentioned it. Every time I was running to the store or on errands, when I would ask him if he needed anything he would always just respond "RockBand." So, anyway, we had a little extra money from work this month, so I surprised him by buying it before the weekend. We did a lot of rocking out. I am not much of a rocker, so I didn't know any of the songs on the game. I sure wish they had like a Disney RockBand or something. :)
We finished the weekend by going to a adults only movie (although we took the bebes)! We went to see Hancock. The movie was pretty good, but getting away from the kids for a couple of hours was priceless. :)

We had so much fun! And yes, it was priceless to have a couple hours with just adults (and two little babies that were very sweet). And to go out to a movie! I can't remember the last time I did that! Oh the freedom!
