We have the BEST friends ever in the Nortons! We love them like family. Joe and Derek worked together (boy...nearly ten years ago) when we only had Ammon as a baby and Derek was single. He used to come home from work with Joe and hang out with the swingin' Boyer family each night. With him wasting all his time with married people, it's a miracle that he still managed to find Rachel and get married. They were married the day before Hannah was born (we actually went straight to the hospital from their wedding ceremony). We were so sad when they upped and left Boise and moved here a couple of years ago. It was six months later that Joe ended up getting a job offer here as well! I bet they think we're just stalkers...maybe it's true!
We have both followed the counsel of the Brethren to multiply and replenish the earth and now have ten kids between us. It's crazy for me to look back on pictures we have of just me, Joe, Derek, and Ammon...we outnumbered the kid three to one! How things have changed. The kids are extremely noisy and demanding these days. It takes us about five hours to watch a movie with all the interruptions.
We like to get together with the Nortons as often as possible. We live about 30 minutes away from each other, but in the summer we often get together every week! In the winter months, with snow and sickness (and this year Rachel and I had babies within a month of each other) it seems to be more like once every six weeks or so.
We finally had them over this past weekend to play games. It was so fun. Joe loved the game so much (Runebound) that we went the next day and bought it for ourselves. Here are some pictures!
Ammon (10), Derek, and Rachel prepare for their next moves
Joe has a tendency to carefully examine every move (in other words he is extremely slow)...this is the look he gives us when we tell him we will be using a timer.
Gideon (7) and Lizzie (6) play Age of Mythology on the computer
Little Helaman (6 months) was born almost exactly a month before Bekah
Sarah (almost 5!) and Hannah (8) play in the basement
Is it just me, or do Caleb (2) and Teancum (2) look like they are up to something naughty?
Derek isn't fond of losing :)
Most of the time, games are played with babies on our laps. Here I am with Bekah...aren't her pink cheeks SOOOO yummy?
P.S. I noticed after posting these pictures that all the kids seem to have messy faces. At least we can prove that we DID feed the kids, right? It's too much to ask that we also clean them up!

Haha! Those pictures are great! Derek and I both have on such funny faces. And that look of Joe's is CLASSIC "Don't even mention time limits!" look! Derek and I roared with laughter over that one. I had no idea that you were able to get such cute pictures of all the kids playing together. Sigh--all the fun memories we'll have while playing at the Boyers.
