Fun With Cousins (Part 2)

The family has all left for their return trip home, so I had a minute to sit down and continue my entry about our week. What a time we've had! It has been so fun to have everyone here.

Wednesday was our busiest, craziest day. We needed to pick Grandpa up at the airport, so we decided to make a day of it. Lizzie went to school that morning, because she was having a party and REALLY didn't want to miss it. Ammon and Hannah just skipped for the day. We left the house around 10:30ish to pick little Liz up at school. We then drove to the airport. We took all ten children into the airport. It was quite chaotic. The kids were extremely excited for Grandpa to come and we worked to keep them occupied while we waited.

Caleb (2), Hannah(8), Addie(8), Lizzie(6), and Karl(6) at the airport Ammon(10) waits patiently (after taking a few laps around the baggage area)Bekah(4.5 months) hasn't seen Grandpa since she was two weeks old! She's excited to show off her pudgy new thighs... Brielle(4) chose a more comfy spot to wait...Nana's lap Emma(4) jealously guarded one of the few actual SEATS we had while waiting
You may notice that there are no pictures of Josh. That would be because he was constantly running everywhere and wasn't still long enough to get his picture taken! We need to use the treadmill more often if we are going to be keeping up with Randon (the runner)'s son!Also...I missed the BEST moment. When Grandpa finally came, the kids were so overcome with excitement, the literally mobbed him in the entry hall! He said later that he could barely keep his balance. Imagine all of those little munchkins all attacking you at once! It must feel good to be so loved!

After we got Grandpa, we went to McDonalds for lunch. The kids all got Happy Meals thanks to Nana and Grandpa. They had fun playing in the toy area and trying out their pirate/princess toys they received in their meals.

Arrrgh...pirate Emma(4) loves McDonalds

Grandpa and Emma (4) Addie Rose (8)

Being the stellar, experienced mom that I am, I forgot to bring a bottle for Bekah. We had to make a minor detour after we left McD's to Smith's to purchase one in order for the baby to be able to eat. The one good thing about that is that Bekah finally has a pink bottle! Hooray! All of her others are blue or green.

We then continued on to Great- Grandma and Grandpa Gibbons place. We had spent a long time prepping the children about appropriate behavior at Grandma Gibbons' house. Example:
"Are we going to their house for presents?" asks Lori.
"NO!" shouts the chorus of young children.
"Why do we visit Grandma and Grandpa?"
"Because we love them!" these smart kids have been through this routine before and know all the right answers.
"Are we going to bug Grandma to get us drinks or cookies?"
"NO!"
"What if Grandma DOES have presents (she always does), and we hate our gift? What if she gives us a poopy diaper?"
"We just say thank you!" they respond amid giggles.
"What if Karl really wants a truck, but Grandma gives him a barbie?"
"I will just say thank you!" Karl laughs.
This goes on and on until we felt relatively sure that the children would behave appropriately once at the condo.

Of course, the minute we picked Grandpa up from the airport, he started telling the kids to make sure they demand chocolate milk and cookies from Grandma Gibbons. I'm pretty sure he just likes to see us women folk go crazy.:) I forgot to take pictures while we were there (was too busy trying to talk Rebekah into taking a bottle before we left for the zoo). I included these pictures from last time we were there. They were too cute to never post!

Ammon tells Grandpa Gibbons about his life Lizzie and Grandma GibbonsHannah reads to Grandpa Emma and her Great-Grandma!

By the way, the kids were FABULOUS at Grandma's! No fighting over the new toys, and no spills (or near falls off the 12 story balcony by Karl, as in the past), and we all loved seeing Grandma and Grandpa Gibbons. Of course, Grandma came through with chocolate chip cookies, chocolate milk, and presents galore! We love visiting them!! Anytime I let the kids know we will be visiting Grandma and Grandpa, it's like Christmas at our house. :)
