Raptor-licous!

While I was going through my pictures, I came across some from our raptor unit last year. For the last three years, Em and I picked a topic of study for the year. With Grandpa as our guide, we have helped the kids experience anadromous fish, raptors and rocks (well, this year was mostly a flop, so I think we're going to try again on the rocks). I think that the fish year was the biggest success, but studying raptors was fun too. We had a good time trying to sight the big birds wherever we went. Anyway, I happened upon these pictures (and lots of videos too!) of our year studying raptors and figured I'd post them. These are from about 18 months ago.

On our way to go bird watching

Ammon still had braces!!

It was a very chilly day in April of 2012

Getting some sustenance so he has the energy to hunt birds

Bekah and Ella both had "leashes" to prevent anyone from falling off the cliff :)

Most of the group!

It was absolutely breathtaking

Ella had a monkey leash and Bekah had a froggy leash

Looking for raptors!

Hannah Bay

We didn't really see any raptors. Such a bummer!

I love my Bekars

A raptor we saw while driving

Look at those talons!

Looking fabulous while learning about raptors!

The kids had great fun at the Birds of Prey

When we finisehd our studies, we had a big raptor party to celebrate (each child even got their own raptor mug). I found videos of each of the kids talking about the birds they loved most. These ones of Bekah and Ella were too cute, so I figured I'd share them. :)
